L-O Forever Fundraiser

It’s almost go-time for the LeRoy-Ostrander Public School’s L-O Forever Committee. The group is gearing up for the return of its fundraising banquet on April 5, an ongoing fundraiser that has already provided nearly $250,000 in support of the school district. The event used to be an annual occasion until the COVID pandemic, and in recent years the event was re-tooled into an online fundraiser or not held at all.   

This year’s event is set for Saturday, April 5, at the LeRoy Community Center and will feature silent and live auctions, raffles, games, and a dinner for attendees. 

Funds raised through the event have helped support a variety of educational needs, including library books, classroom technology, curriculum updates, and music equipment. The money also helps promote the LeRoy-Ostrander community and ensures continued access to valuable programs for students.  

“Future needs include curriculum updates, continued technology programs, and other needs as recommended by administrators and the teaching staff,” the group wrote in a fundraising letter to the community. “Our goal is to support the future generations of students and strive to provide a quality education to all. We value the life-blood position our school holds in our community.” 

The evening’s schedule includes a silent auction, games, and raffles from 5-7 p.m., and a dinner at 6 p.m. The live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m., featuring a drawing for a $100 gas card. Those who purchase tickets by March 5 will be automatically entered into the drawing, though they do not need to be present to win. 

How to help 

Community members can support the event in several ways. Tax-deductible donations of cash or auction items — including handmade goods, home-cooked meals, and services such as yard work or snow removal — are welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the school office by March 7. Checks should be made payable to “L-O Schools Forever” and dropped off or mailed to PO Box 312, LeRoy, MN 55951. 

Volunteers are also needed to assist with planning and running the event.
