Everything you need to know about upcoming holiday events in LeRoy

Are you looking to embrace the magic of the holiday season? There’s no need to travel far—our community has a full calendar of events designed to bring neighbors and visitors together and celebrate the spirit of the season. From heartwarming traditions to exciting new festivities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy right here in LeRoy.

Here is the full event lineup:

Dec. 7: Christmas in LeRoy

The annual “Christmas in LeRoy” celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at LeRoy-Ostrander Public School. The event includes:

  • Pancake Breakfast (8:30-10:30 a.m., hosted by the L-O Washington, D.C. Club)
    Support this fundraiser by purchasing a $6 pancake breakfast, including pancakes, sausage, milk, orange juice or coffee. This is a new event as part of Christmas in LeRoy. All proceeds will go to the club’s 2025 Washington, D.C. trip. 
  • Cookie Walk (9-11 a.m., hosted by the LeRoy Area Ambulance)
    Choose from a large collection of cookies for sale donated by community members and the ambulance crew. This is the ambulance’s largest annual fundraiser. If you’d like to make a last-minute donation of cookies, contact Barb Payne, Sr., at 507-273-2831. 
  • Christmas Craft Show (9 a.m.-1 p.m.)
    Shop for everything from homemade decorative and practical items to baked goods, candles, Pampered Chef, Scentsy merchandise and much more. You’ll find a large lineup of vendors in the small gym.
  • Soup Luncheon (11 a.m.-1 p.m., hosted by the L-O Washington, D. C. Club)
    Enjoy a variety of soups, bread, crackers, cheese, bars, cookies, lemonade and coffee for a free-will donation. All proceeds will go to the club’s 2025 Washington, D.C. trip

Dec. 13: Let’s Jingle & Mingle

The LeRoy Commercial Club’s “Let’s Jingle & Mingle” celebration is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13, from 5-8 p.m. north of the fire hall and surrounding areas. Bring your family and friends for an evening filled with hot chocolate and walking s’mores, a light parade led by Santa, wagon rides with caroling, an art voting contest and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Light Parade (5 p.m.)
    LeRoy’s beloved Light Parade is back! Decorate your golf cart, ATV, car, or truck with festive lights and join the lineup on East Main Street near Evans Printing & Publishing. Santa will lead the parade down Main Street in a horse-drawn wagon.
  • Christmas Tree Lighting (5:45 p.m.)
    Gather in the public parking lot between Trish’s Heavenly Designs and Evans Printing & Publishing for a magical moment as we light up LeRoy’s Christmas tree—starting a bright new tradition!
  • Wagon Rides & Caroling (6–8 p.m.)
    Climb aboard a cozy wagon from Hanson Horse Ranch and take a ride around town. Sing along to holiday classics or simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. Rides depart from behind the fire hall.
  • Art Contest Voting (5–8 p.m.)
    Stop by the fire hall to vote for your favorite Christmas-themed paintings. Local artists of all ages have created small canvases that will be displayed for community voting. Categories include grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-10, 11-12 and adults. Winners in each age group will receive $20 or $10 in LeRoy Bucks. Purchase your canvas for $10 at A Gift to Gab or Ed’s Floral & Gifts today. Support local talent while soaking in the holiday spirit!

In addition, A Gift to Gab, Ed’s Floral & Gifts and Emporium 56 will stay open late during the event.

Dec. 14: Breakfast with Santa

LeRoy-Ostrander Community Education is putting the final touches on this year’s Breakfast with Santa event, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 8-11 a.m. at L-O Schools. Children of all ages are invited to snap a photo with Santa Sam at no cost. There will also be a free breakfast available.

Community Education elves will assist kids in browsing the elf shop to do some secret shopping for their loved ones. Kids can purchase gift items for $1 per item, which will then be wrapped before kids are reunited with their family.

Dec. 14: Wildwood Grove Open House

Wildwood Grove Assisted Living & Memory Care will host an Open House on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1-4 p.m. Take a tour of the building and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. There will also be refreshments, including coffee, hot chocolate, apple ciders and cookies.

Christmas Painting Contest   

Artists of all ages are invited to participate in the Christmas Painting Contest, where they can share their best holiday-themed creations. Participants can purchase a canvas for $10 at A Gift To Gab or Ed’s Floral & Gifts and submit their completed paintings by Tuesday, Dec. 12. The entries will be displayed during the Jingle & Mingle event at the fire hall on Friday, Dec. 13, where attendees will vote for their favorites.   

The contest includes the following age categories: Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-10, 11-12 and adult. Prizes for each category include $20 in LeRoy Bucks for first place and $10 in LeRoy Bucks for second place.   

Christmas Decorating Contest   

Community members are encouraged to take part in a new Christmas Decorating Contest by decorating the exterior of their homes or businesses. Commercial Club judges will tour the city on Dec. 11 to evaluate the festive displays.   

Prizes will be awarded in both residential and business categories. First place winners will receive $100 in LeRoy Bucks, second place winners will receive $50 in LeRoy Bucks and third place winners will receive $25 in LeRoy Bucks. Winners will be announced during the tree lighting ceremony at the Commercial Club’s Jingle & Mingle event on Friday, Dec. 13.
