A Celtic Breeze


LeRoy Public Library presents Laura MacKenzie with A Celtic Breeze: The Magic of Celtic Music.  A delightful spectrum of Celtic music on an extraordinary variety of traditional wind-powered instruments, including a collection of wooden flutes, whistles, concertina, an array of different bagpipes, gemshorn and voice.  Music from Ireland, Scotland, regions of France, Northern Spain, Wales, The Isle of Man and Nova Scotia.  In a program intriguing to both youth and adults, we learn how air is transformed into music and what makes the airs, dance tunes and songs "Celtic".  This program is made possible by a Library Legacy Grant.  All programs are free.

City Election


Notice has been given that the City Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.  At this election the mayor's seat, two four-year council seats, and one two-year council seat will be voted on.  Affidavits of candidacy for these offices may be filed with the city clerk between August 2, 2022, and 5:00 PM on August 16, 2022.  A candidate for any of these offices must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the city for 30 days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same general election.  Please stop by City Hall to file an affidavit of candidacy if you would like your name on the ballot to run for one of these offices.  The filing fee is $2.00.

EDA Advent Calendars


The letters for the 2022 Advent Calendar Promotion have been mailed out to the LeRoy and surrounding area businesses.  The calendars will be assembled and will be ready for sale in early November.  Please watch this spot for the exact date the calendars will be available to purchase.

LeRoy Farmers Market


The LeRoy Farmers Market will open their season on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at their downtown location at the intersection of East Main Street and North Broadway Street.  Vendors will be selling their goodies from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM.  The Farmers Market will be held each Thursday throughout the summer and early fall season.

Commercial Club Basket Social raises $6,208


The LeRoy Commercial Club Basket Social, which was held on June 3, was another success. Community members donated 62 items to the annual auction, which raised $6,208 for Summer-Fest and the betterment of the community throughout the year.

Frugal Millionaire Leaves Town Fortune


A 94-year old World War II veteran who quietly amassed a small fortune by living a modest lifestyle surprised everyone in the small town of LeRoy, MN, when he passed away recently.  Loren Krueger bequeathed $3 million to various groups in his will, but only his lawyer knew about the gifts in advance.  Watch the video:
